How long does it take to make your tonic?
It typically takes 24 hours (1 day) to make the perfect Tonic Water syrup.
It is a very hands off process. You simply put the tonic bag in container, add water, wait for 24 hours, add sweetener and enjoy.
How much tonic will a pack make?
A tonic pack will typically make 700ml of tonic syrup. This will make at least 28 great drinks using 25ml of syrup per serve.
Do I need any special equipment?
No. All you need is a watertight container (jar, jug, bowl, even food storage boxes work) big enough to hold the bag, the water to infuse it and the sweetener. I find a 1 litre container is perfect for the job.
Can I sweeten my tonic with something other than sugar?
Yes, we have successfully used a number sugar alternatives to sweeten our tonic. So far we have used Honey, Agave and even Xylitol and are always excited to try new things. You can read all about our experiments here.
Can I control the levels of sweetness of my tonic?
Yes. If you are using sugar to sweeten your tonic you can use a higher or lower concentration of sugar in your syrup. We find 2:1 syrup (1 cup (225g) of sugar to 1/2 cup water) is ideal but if you want a sweeter taste add another 1/2 cup of sugar for a 3:1 syrup.
How do I store my tonic syrup?
It should be stored in the fridge in an airtight bottle or jar.
Is it suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes. We are currently seeking certification from the Vegetarian Society.
